Are you asking for a challenge?!?

That little gem came from the Homestarrunner website, they have lots of funny cartoons and whatnot there for you to view and enjoy. But I'm not here to talk about web cartoons with you (no matter how funny they may be). I'd like to discuss...N-Game.

N-Game (see the Wikipedia article for download links), is a fun, yet extremely challenging side scrolling 2D game available from the folks at Metanet Software. It basically involves you, a ninja, and you've got to bounce off of walls, collect gold, dodge missles, and reach the end of the level. It's a great "Pick up and play" type game, because you can play it in little small bits, if you're, for example, waiting for something to load, or you can sit down for a long session and have fun with it that way.

I like playing it with "Joy2Key", which emulates Keyboard presses through a Joystick (Google Joy2Key for a download), so I can play N-Game with a gamepad, and get even better scores. Hence the title of this entry, it is a VERY challenging game. I've never been able to beat an entire block of levels, and in my opinion, the ones donated by the users are extremely difficult, I can't even mess with those.

Bargain Bin PC Games

Hello again,

I usually like to get bargain bin PC games...I can turn up the graphics all the way to max, and I can save tons of money and get great games to boot! Some of my favorite bargain bin titles that I've ever bought include:

  • Tribes 2 (now legally free actually, for offline and LAN play only)
  • Star Wars: Jedi Outcast
  • Star Wars: Jedi Academy
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus
  • Planet of the Apes
  • Marble Blaster
  • X-Com: Enforcer
  • StarLancer

Out of all of those, I beat Planet of the Apes a couple of months back. The game was good, even though reviewers at Metacritic didn't really care for it all too much. I enjoyed the stealth action, and it certainly got my adrenaline pumping several times throughout the game wondering if I was going to be discovered by the apes. The ending was really good (so good, I watched it twice...only because I missed it the first time, something came up, so I had to beat the last level again), and it inspired me to read the famous book, which is much different than the famous movie, which is slightly similar to the game (the book, that is, is slightly similar to the game). Yeah...that.

I'm stuck in Battle Nexus right now, which is a bummer...I can't find out the boss' weak point, in order to attack it for MASSIVE DAMAGE™. What, you don't know what I'm talking about?

Cave Story

Just wanted to tell you all about a fun game that I finished playing a couple of months ago, its called Cave Story. And...I just found out that the same guy made another game before that in a similar style, called Ikachan...I just downloaded it, played it for a few seconds...I think I like it.

Anyway, about Cave Story, it's an awesome 2D Platformer in the "Metroid" style, you know, a huge world in which a lot of it isn't accessible to you immediately until you get better items, then you're good to go. The story in this game is great, and was actually rather deep for a game made with 2D sprites, and the music tunes are memorable as well.

I'll come back later to write some more...it shouldn't be too hard to forget, especially since "Curly Brace" is my background on my computer.

Here is a video trailer from YouTube:

I really enjoyed the game a lot, and I look forward to trying out Ikachan sometime. It's a great 2D platfomer with an epic storyline, and I'd advise downloading it and trying it out today!

DBZ Season 3 on DVD

Nappa: Hey Vegeta, how many minutes of awesome uncut action are on this tape?
Vegeta: OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNDD!

Okay, if you think I'm a weirdo for saying that, you might wanna look here first...at least I think that's the original link, it has over 2 MILLIOOONN views, so its probably the right one, plus I read the authors comments... Anyway, its spawned several parodies, like this one, or this one.

In any event, my folks got this little gem the other day:

This may be old news to other people, but I somehow missed out on a lot of the Frieza saga (I realized this as I was reading the manga one day), so I was very happy to see that sitting on my dining room table just waiting to be opened. My Mom and I watched 2 episodes of it, and I have to say that I like the FUNimation redub of it. It was kinda hard getting used to the new Vegeta voice actor (probably because I was watching some old Ginyu saga tapes, so that voice was in my head), but by the second episode, it was fine. The widescreen format is fine, I understand that they cut off only a little bit, and that's where the film quality was supposed to be at its worst.

Its uncut of course, and the DVDs have mild cursing in them...we're not talking like in some fansubs, where 4 letter words are thrown around like contractions -_-, but just when the characters get really ticked, or just randomly, there'll be a bad word. Uh, Dende's kid VA sounds too much like a girl, I know that females do quite a few of the male VAs on that show and they do a good job of it, but the Dende one sounds too much like a little girl, oh well, you get used to it, and it doesn't ruin anything really.

I prefer watching the english dialogue version with the original broadcast music. This isn't like the 4Kids One Piece where the English broadcast music isn't that hot because they changed it completely or whatever, but the original Japanese audio just doesn't seem to fit the DBZ anime as well as the American one does. I'm glad they included the option for those of us who appreciate the old themes (Perfect Cell Theme FTW) and get the nostalgia from hearing them. Plus, they just sound good.

We left off where Frieza just showed up, and he's not looking too thrilled. Hopefully, the fighting will begin soon and I'll be able to see what I missed years ago!
