DBZ Season 3 on DVD

Nappa: Hey Vegeta, how many minutes of awesome uncut action are on this tape?
Vegeta: OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNDD!

Okay, if you think I'm a weirdo for saying that, you might wanna look here first...at least I think that's the original link, it has over 2 MILLIOOONN views, so its probably the right one, plus I read the authors comments... Anyway, its spawned several parodies, like this one, or this one.

In any event, my folks got this little gem the other day:

This may be old news to other people, but I somehow missed out on a lot of the Frieza saga (I realized this as I was reading the manga one day), so I was very happy to see that sitting on my dining room table just waiting to be opened. My Mom and I watched 2 episodes of it, and I have to say that I like the FUNimation redub of it. It was kinda hard getting used to the new Vegeta voice actor (probably because I was watching some old Ginyu saga tapes, so that voice was in my head), but by the second episode, it was fine. The widescreen format is fine, I understand that they cut off only a little bit, and that's where the film quality was supposed to be at its worst.

Its uncut of course, and the DVDs have mild cursing in them...we're not talking like in some fansubs, where 4 letter words are thrown around like contractions -_-, but just when the characters get really ticked, or just randomly, there'll be a bad word. Uh, Dende's kid VA sounds too much like a girl, I know that females do quite a few of the male VAs on that show and they do a good job of it, but the Dende one sounds too much like a little girl, oh well, you get used to it, and it doesn't ruin anything really.

I prefer watching the english dialogue version with the original broadcast music. This isn't like the 4Kids One Piece where the English broadcast music isn't that hot because they changed it completely or whatever, but the original Japanese audio just doesn't seem to fit the DBZ anime as well as the American one does. I'm glad they included the option for those of us who appreciate the old themes (Perfect Cell Theme FTW) and get the nostalgia from hearing them. Plus, they just sound good.

We left off where Frieza just showed up, and he's not looking too thrilled. Hopefully, the fighting will begin soon and I'll be able to see what I missed years ago!
